Music Recommendation: Bailey Spinn

Tik Toker Goes Punk

Bailey’s breakthrough hit “Romance Is Dead”

Bailey Spinn is a up and coming Rock Star from Fairfax, Virginia. From the depths of Tik Tok POV videos. She slowly switched her branding to a music artist. With edgy delinquent type of lyrics and a powerful catchy woman voice. Bailey Spinn does not fail to deliver her vision of artistry. Her sound to me is some sort of mix between MGK and Halsey. The band is spot on, I really like the drums in particular and has me wondering constantly who drums on her records. The production is very polished. Almost sounds too commercial but Bailey’s naive (and i mean this in the nicest way possible) writing/lyrics adds some sort of rawness that I really enjoy. I don’t want to flex but I’ve been following Bailey since before she started uploading music. I found her on Snapchat Spotlight. Other than looking obviously attractive, I knew she looked like she was an inner emo girl. After following her for some time on Snapchat, I eventually took a look at her tik tok, that is currently sitting at 15.1 MILLION followers. But this was awhile ago so i don’t remember how many she had then. I just knew that she had some sort of creativity to her and that’s what I like too look for in people. I was not one bit surprised once she dropped her single, “romance is dead”. Actually, I think I listened to it the first hour it came out. I was blown away and still to this day, the hook, “romance is dead but the fantasy of us lives on inside my head” has literally been burned into my psyche.

Bailey’s arguably most catchiest song

(Happy Ending) I’m pretty sure this song was inspired by another song? I remember watching a video with her and that artist in a car reacting to Bailey’s song. The intro reminds me of something that Alice in Chains would write. Then those tasty drum fills lead into a wall of guitars that are your typical polished emo sound, something like you’d hear on a Paramore or Evanescence record. Then the verse comes in and you can totally hear the many inspirations of Bailey Spinn. A little bit of this and a little bit of that. But its the pre hook and hook that make this song REALLY shine. Her vocals are in top condition in this song. “Maybe i’m naive to believe that I could have a happy ending..” is just heart wrenching. The Disney movies don’t portray reality, they almost show this glamorized version of life that we think should be. But that’s what it ultimately is, fantasy. EMO TO THE CORE.

Make sure to check out Bailey Spinn on her first North American tour. Hopefully near a city close to you. I know that I WILL be trying to go. Thank you and make sure to GO LISTEN TO BAILEY SPINN MUSIC RIGHT NOW!
